The Sunstreak - 'Once Upon A Lie'

Alternative rock is an ever growing genre of music that has swept our country within the last few years. It has always been a steady force in our culture, but it really has grown of late to include a number of dynamic artists. One of the hit bands in this new wave is The Sunstreak. They are bringing out their second full length album, entitled “Once upon a lie”, and they are showing the world why they are an undeniable force in this industry.

Having come together in 2005, the band is comprised of Tony Rebis on vocals, Jason Sarkis on bass, Jack Flynn on guitar and vocals, Gary Foster on drums and David Schuler on guitar/synth/vocals. Hailing from Rochester, NY, the band is bringing forth an original blend of alternative music and soothing vocals that have made them heavyweight contenders.

Their first full length debut album hit the market in the summer of 2006, and made the band an instant hit. The Sunstreak has been playing shows nonstop for years now, and has played the Van Warped Tour. They have even been featured on the Vans Warped Tour compilation cd, along with Saves the Day and Underoath. Due to their hard work and dedication, the band become the second band in history to post on the Billboard charts without a distribution deal, having posted #33 on the Top Independent albums and #30 on the Heatseekers charts. In an industry as competitive as the music business, simply getting airplay is a difficult task without distribution.  It's good to see bands like The Sunstreak breaking that tired mold.

This latest album, featuring the hit single “Until I met You”, is a smash hit, and truly reflects what makes this industry so wonderful: originality and hard hitting yet graceful music. The purity of Rebis' vocals reminds us that not all alternative rock has to be gritty or balls-to-the-wall to make people take notice.  'Once Upon A Lie' is one of those records you pop in to make you smile, and to simply enjoy some exceptionally smooth rock.  If the chorus of 'Until I Met You' doesn't get stuck in your head after your first listen, there may just be something seriously wrong with you.  In short, we highly recommend it.
