All Time Low's second full-length album, Nothing Personal, starts off like an automatic dance party with the song 'Weightless.'
All Time Low is obviously not new to making music that is both incredible in its lyricism and fun with its hooks. There is
a reason why they have gained such a huge fan base since they first started. Hell, they've grown a huge fan base since the
first time we saw them in February of 2007. We knew when we saw them back then that they would be going places, and they have
not failed us in that endeavor.
All Time Low's continuous play on words is witty and there is something to be said for that. Case in point, 'Damned if
I Do Ya, Damned if I Don't'. Every song on this record exemplifies their growth in their music. You can hear the elements
of such influences as Blink-182 and New Found Glory, but they always put their own twist on things and continue to show their
originality. Maybe I'm a little biased because I've been a fan of their music since I first saw them a few years back, but
if they had changed for the worse I would not be afraid to tell you I felt that they had.
Like a fine bottle of wine, All Time Low only gets better with age. Every artist says they want to grow from album to
album, and with the great musicianship of Jack Barakat, Rian Dawson, Alex Gaskarth, and Zack Merrick on Nothing Personal,
it clearly shows that they have done just that. They have no problem acting like 12 year olds, but they also have a certain
maturity about them that is shown in such songs as 'Therapy.' This stripped down track showcases the raw beauty of lead singer
Alex Gaskarth's voice. In the song 'Weightless,' Gaskarth says "Maybe it's not my weekend, but it's gonna be my year,"
and I think he may be right.
Their album, Nothing Personal, dropped on July 7th so be sure to get it. It's something you definitely won't regret.
