Most of the CD's we receive here at Rock on Request Magazine consist of new or unsigned artists, which makes this job that
much more exciting. However, it is always a treat to come across an already great band or artist putting out another album.
This was the case when we received an advanced copy of The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus's "Lonely Road".
Although this album does have a lot of their same style, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus has infused a brand new flavor into
their sound, bringing fourth a new edge that is more rock than ever before. With the combination of Ronnie Winter's vocals,
Duke Kitchens on guitar, Joey Westwood on bass, and Jon Wilkes on drums, the band has combined their alternative style with
a harder edge of rock that brought to mind a new age Guns N Roses.
With a new flavor of rock evident in such songs as 'You Better Pray' RJA is showing their range and crossing some various
rock genres, which we love. The band has not completely abandoned their alternative roots either, which is shown in their
hit 'Pen and Paper.' Often in this business a band will switch their styles completely and will not receive the same affection
that they had with previous works, leaving fans confused and upset that they didn't stay true to their roots. However, I think
what the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus has done is quite extraordinary, and shows that a truly great artist can be well versed in
many areas of the genre he/she/they are affiliated with. When this album is released, I highly recommend that fans old and
new purchase it.
