Some might think that doing this job after a while would make me immune to excitability over interviewing certain artists.
While it would be great to be able to pretend that isn't true, I am an open book here and cannot tell a lie. Every now and
again I get the opportunity to interview an artist whose music I have loved and followed throughout their career and yes,
I get downright giddy. Sitting down with Wes Scantlin, lead vocalist for Puddle of Mudd was definitely one of the highlights
for me in 2008. And why not? They set the standard, in my humble opinion, for what all bands should follow when it comes
to talent, songwriting, stage presence and personality. There, I said it.
POM came off a four year deafening silence at the end of 2007 to release yet another successful album with 'Famous'.
This new record has already spawned hit singles and has no intention of slowing down yet. Aside from the incredible opportunity
I was given to interview Wes, this past Saturday was the first time I had the pleasure of seeing a live Puddle Of Mudd set....and
they fucking rocked! They had thousands of loyal fans singing to every song in Raleigh, and I was glad to be part of the
whole experience.
To say that Wes Scantlin was in a good mood when I interviewed him would be an understatement. We had a great conversation,
some laughs, some hugs and being the genuinely loving human being that he is he even prayed for my son after we were done.
Thank you for that Wes. It meant a lot.
